Cock Fighting in the Workplace
This Guy walks up to one of his employees: “Hey, you wanna grab a drink after work?”
Employee A: “Aren’t you married?”
This Guy to Employee A, with a smug look on his face: “Not if you don’t want me to be.”
Seriously? I know I am in HR Consulting, not Dating Consulting, but, Seriously? Come on! Is this your A Game? You can do better than that!
Oh, wait! You are her BOSS!!!! Knock it off!
So This Guy gets reprimanded. No one could prove that this was what happened; it was her word against his. So This Guy gets a final written warning – Don’t hit on your staff!
Fast forward six months:
This Guy walks up to Employee Q, “Hey, would you like to see my (fill in the blank)?”
Really? People really say this stuff? And after he has been given his final written warning?
Mistakes like sexual harassment are not typically offered a “Get Out of Jail Free” card. Most businesses have a Zero Tolerance Policy for these things – this is why!
There are not many things that I do without significant thought (a personality trait of mine – over analysis). This is one of the things that my clients love about me – I can look at a situation, assess a lot of “what if” scenarios that could pose a problem later on, and assist in making the best decision to protect my client. I am not naïve enough to believe that everyone thinks like me – or even makes decisions like me. However, if find that you have made a mistake and are lucky enough to get a second chance – LEARN FROM YOUR FIRST MISTAKE!
